Looking for medical advice on a baby who stopped breathing for 20 minutes and is now in a coma on life support?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows of something we can maybe ask the doctors to do to try and wake her up please help.Looking for medical advice on a baby who stopped breathing for 20 minutes and is now in a coma on life support?
if she was getting CPR withing afew minutes of her stopping breathing, chancces are she wont have much brain damage at all if any. however, as you would know, babies are very delicate creatures, anything could happen.

but you dont want to wake her up. if she is in a coma its her body saying ';just give me a bit of a break, im saving all my energy by sleeping to try and make myself better';. but if shes in a coma for more than afew days, that could also cause brain damage,.

wow, i probably just made you feel really horrible. so sorry.Looking for medical advice on a baby who stopped breathing for 20 minutes and is now in a coma on life support?
Sorry to hear of your situation- according to medicine 4-6 minutes is the only lee way you can really give for no oxygen to the brain. After that severe brain damage can occur. Since no breathing was occuring you would have to assume the infants oxygen storage was used within those for 4-6 minutes. If the infant can recover from the coma i would expect brain damage of some kind.

I would speak with a neurologist about the possibility of recovering from a coma- it is possible but also ask what to expect- and what treatment plan you can put the baby on to induce a coma recovery if any.
Oh dear. Oh dear. 20 minute without oxygen is terrible. Chances are high there is brain damage. Even if the baby wakes up, it will have major set backs. Do talk to your doctors to ask what the baby will be like if it wakes up, will there be brain damage? Ask yourself if this tiny human being can ever have a full life? I am not advocating euthanasia! I am only wondering if we should torture someone so small and innocent. I feel sad I can not give you a more hope giving answer.
sorry 20mins is to long to go without suffering brain damage
