I assume the person asked for advice so don't go there to be cute!Do you try to imagine what its like to be in the other person's shoes when they ask for advice about life?
Yes, I think you need to look at it from a real life perspective not like you're just reading a question and giving some nonexistant person advice to an unreal problem. If I have no idea what the person is going through or talking about I usually don't try to tell them what I think should be done.Do you try to imagine what its like to be in the other person's shoes when they ask for advice about life?
yes, this is true in psychology as well, you cannot limit yourself to what you know. always think of the best and worste case scenario and whatever is in the middle. only then can you truly grasp what the person is feeling.
If you don't, you can't give good advice.
You're trying to help the person achieve his aims,
not yours.
That's the only way we find to answer with a successful advice.
of course you have to do it..
to further analyze his/her problem or situation, right?
