What is the best advice you have for College Life?

I'm attending The College of William %26amp; Mary in the fall, academically tough, but what advice do you give to survive academics and college life, such as planning, time management, and social aspects? What is the best advice you have for College Life?
Stay away from frats/sororities, college parties, alcohol, marijuana, meth, etc.

Do your f**king homework - if you are buried and need more time on a project, talk the teacher rather than just not turning it in - as long as you aren't just slacking, and are making an honest effort - they will usually understand (but don't take it for granted either).

Set your priorities - classes and homework trump all other social aspects of school - if people think you are a geek or a loser, then f**k them, what you do now has a lot to do with where you will end up later. College is supposed to prepare you for real life - most fail miserably because a young kid going directly into college from high school and suddenly not having any parental supervision is a recipe for disaster (there are obvious exceptions - but they are pretty rare).

If you try to skim by in college and do the bare minimum in college, real life will come along and kick you square in the

teeth.

Make sure you are ready to go to school - and to make it your #1 priority, some people are better off to take a year or two to get their priorities straight - go get a job someplace and it makes you much more aware of why it is important to get an education - you can't actually support a family (or even yourself) flipping burgers (though thousands and thousands of people try every day).

Good luck!!What is the best advice you have for College Life?
Thanks!

I've been pretty fortunate myself - I went to ITT and got a bachelors in electronics engineers. I actually ended up doing electrical engineering design work after years of doing various technical jobs. It's been a wild ride - and that piece of paper from ITT has made it all possible. Report Abuse

the freshman fifteen is easy to reach, so pace yourself eating. parties are okay, but partying too hard and getting wasted every night is not cool. its really annoying, and it gets old really fast. keep your school work above all else. if you are already a procrastinator, then you probably will be in college too. just make sure you get the work done, and go to as many classes as you can. above all else, be yourself, and be confident. don't be scared or nervous about your grades. just do your best, and know that your professors are really there to help you. you shouldn't have any problems getting adjusted after a while. good luck!!!
One thing I hear a lot is to be careful about social eating, or about the choices you're suddenly given. They call it the freshman fifteen for a reason--it's really easy to gain weight after starting college.

And time management--don't wait until the last minute for anything, especially not studying for exams. Cramming a whole night before an exam may actually make your grade worse because not only can your brain not remember things like that, but you won't have gotten any sleep, either.
don't party too much on weeknights....it'll be tough, but try to save it for the weekends. absolutely attend classes, or you'll fall behind. you'll have enough time to get your work done, depending on major and how many credits. just focus...you'll do fine! college is great!
yes you got them in the right order but social has to take a back seat to study EVERY TIME. and may often not make the cut
